In a statement published on the website of the Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office of Évora, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) clarified that following arrest warrants issued by the MP, a woman was detained on Tuesday, being “strongly suspected” of the crime of drug trafficking.
“At the time of her arrest, the suspect was carrying, concealed within her body, 8.224 grams of cocaine, corresponding to approximately 41 individual doses, and 1.156 grams of heroin, equivalent to around 11 individual doses. She also had 595 euros in cash with her,” the statement reads.
Following the arrest, searches were conducted at the suspect’s residence, where 6.179 grams of cocaine, approximately 30 individual doses, and 1,115 euros in cash were seized.
The authorities also discovered various items associated with the division and packaging of narcotics, such as a precision scale and two blades (for the division and cutting of drugs).
“The detainee was sentenced in 2022 to five years in prison for drug trafficking and has been on parole since May 16, 2024, a period that will end on July 26, 2026,” the MP adds.
During the initial judicial interrogation, the suspect was subjected to coercive measures including the obligation of regular twice-weekly appearances at the police station in her area of residence, and was prohibited from contacting any other defendants in the case or drug consumers by any means.
The court also imposed a ban on frequenting places associated with drug trafficking and a prohibition on leaving the municipality of residence.
The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Elvas Public Prosecutor’s Office.
