An official from the Viana do Castelo Territorial Command of the GNR reported that “the body was found charred,” apparently in a burn of agricultural waste that “got out of control.”
The official added that the Judicial Police (PJ) have already been contacted.
The alert was raised around 14:44.
An official from the Alto Minho Sub-Regional Command stated that “the fire, which is still ongoing, is not threatening any residences.”
According to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) page, as of 16:15, 68 operatives were fighting the flames, supported by 17 vehicles and nine aerial units.
