Three minors were found alone on Thursday morning by the Public Security Police (PSP) in a house in Matosinhos, Porto district, after their aunt, who was responsible for their care, went missing.
The disappearance of the woman was reported at 8:50 a.m. by one of the minors, a 15-year-old, as confirmed by the PSP to Notícias ao Minuto.
The teenager, appearing to be the eldest of the three minors, contacted the PSP, reporting that the aunt left for a company “gathering” on the night of Wednesday, December 3, and has yet to return home.
Notícias ao Minuto has learned that her phone is currently turned off.
The PSP is now awaiting the arrival of the Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People (CPCJ), who is expected to take the minors to a shelter.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to contact the children’s aunt, but have not yet succeeded. If this proves unsuccessful, they plan to reach out to other family members.
Currently, the age of the missing woman, as well as the other two minors, could not be determined.
