A 33-year-old man was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) on Wednesday after injuring a 47-year-old woman with scissors at a convenience store within a service station in Odivelas.
The PSP disclosed that the Odivelas Police Station received a report indicating a man was inside a convenience store at a fuel station in Odivelas, armed with white weapons and threatening customers.
Upon their arrival, officers found the suspect in the café area of the station, holding an object later identified as scissors, close to the neck of a victim, a woman aged 47.
The man ignored the officers’ orders, continuing to wield the scissors, which he used to inflict multiple wounds on the victim’s torso and upper limbs.
One officer resorted to using a firearm, shooting the suspect in the right lower limb, thus stopping the assault and enabling his immobilization and detention.
The victim sustained injuries and required hospital treatment but has since been discharged.
The detainee, who also needed hospital treatment for minor injuries, will appear before the judicial authority at the Judicial Court of the District of Lisbon North.
A video of the incident has circulated on social media—though Notícias ao Minuto chose not to publish it—in which the suspect can be heard making threats. “I am going to kill someone, I am going to kill someone,” he says. “You will see who I am,” he continues, as those present plead for calm.
