A 24-year-old woman was kidnapped and assaulted by her ex-partner after traveling from Bragança to Leiria to pick up her children from their father on Friday. The report was filed by the victim herself at a Police Security Station (PSP).
The victim arrived at the Leiria police station at 8:00 PM on Friday to report being kidnapped and assaulted by her ex-partner, who is also the father of her two children.
The crime took place after the woman traveled from Bragança to Leiria to collect her children, whom the suspect, a 26-year-old man, had promised to hand over.
While at the ex-partner’s house, the young woman was kidnapped, raped, and violently assaulted. She later managed to escape and seek help.
The woman was initially transported by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) to Santo André Hospital in Leiria but was eventually transferred to a hospital in Coimbra, where she is hospitalized in critical condition.
The case is being handled by the Judicial Police (PJ), and the suspect remains at large.
