The body of a 26-year-old woman murdered on June 16 by her ex-partner in Setúbal is expected to be transported to Brazil, where she was originally from, this week.
This information was confirmed by the victim’s father. Ângelo Máximo stated that his daughter, Iranilce Oliveira, was released by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences on June 23.
The body is expected to be sent to Brazil within the week.
“Early this morning, I received a call from the funeral home informing that a new plan was devised to avoid transferring the body overland from Rio de Janeiro to Piauí, which was initially planned,” he shared. “They informed that they are trying everything to bring her directly from Portugal to Teresina, but we still need to find out the exact day and time,” he added.
A police source confirmed that the suspect surrendered to the Public Security Police (PSP) after the crime, engaging the Judiciary Police (PJ).
The crime took place at the suspect’s workplace, a barbershop near the Livramento Market.

It has been revealed that the suspect is Gustavo Maciel, originally from Novo Oriente in Ceará. He lived in Portugal after moving there with the victim from Piauí, and they had a three-year-old child who returned to Brazil about a month ago to live with his paternal grandparents.
Gustavo and Iranilce met at an evangelical church and were married for six years before separating about a year ago.
On the day of the crime, Iranilce visited Gustavo at his workplace and was murdered at the closed establishment. “She was stabbed seven times and killed by her husband,” said Ângelo Máximo.
“She was very dedicated to her family. She only left home when she got married, and now she is in a morgue. It’s a very difficult time,” he lamented.
The family wishes for Iranilce to be buried in São Miguel do Tapuio, Piauí, and hopes the child can attend the funeral. A fundraising campaign was initiated for the body’s transportation.
“Even if he doesn’t understand, so he can see his mother for the last time, say goodbye. Before all this occurred, we were trying to arrange him spending a weekend with us, but it wasn’t possible. This time, we hope it is possible, at least for a day or two,” the father expressed.
Following the suspect’s voluntary surrender at the PSP station in Setúbal, officers confirmed the crime at the scene. The victim was found on the floor with several knife wounds and was declared dead.
The suspect, held by the PJ, remains in pre-trial detention.
