A woman was rescued Thursday afternoon after falling in a rocky area of Marinha Beach in the municipality of Lagoa, Algarve.
The Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Lisbon (MRCC Lisbon) received an alert at 5:43 PM about a woman “with a possible fracture in one of her lower limbs” and dispatched crew from the Ferragudo Lifeboat Station, as well as members of the Portimão Maritime Police and Lagoa Volunteer Firefighters.
Upon arrival, the rescue teams found the victim had injuries and transported her to the Ferragudo Lifeboat Station, where she received assistance from the firefighters.
The Portimão Maritime Police took charge of the incident.

It is noted that earlier yesterday, another woman, in this case of German nationality, was also rescued with a femur fracture aboard a passenger ship off Cabo Espichel. The Navy was responsible for this rescue, and the victim was subsequently transported to a Lisbon hospital by the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
According to a summary of the first six months of the year, the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Lisbon (MRCC Lisbon), also involved in this incident, has recorded 149 incidents resulting in the rescue of 160 people.

The Portuguese Navy rescued a 76-year-old German citizen with a femur fracture aboard a passenger ship off Cabo Espichel. The victim was then transported to a hospital in Lisbon.
