The body of a 31-year-old man was recovered from the Tagus River after a vehicle accident on Monday morning. The man was driving a light goods vehicle, which is believed to have veered off course, surmounting the wall that borders the road, traversing the Maritime Promenade, and plunging into the river, where it became submerged.
The confirmation of this incident was provided by Sérgio Duarte, the Deputy Commander of the Paço de Arcos Volunteer Firefighters, who stated that the body has been transported to Guia morgue and that the car is also in the process of being retrieved from the Tagus River by the Municipal Police.
Currently, the site is being attended by the Paço de Arcos Volunteer Firefighters, the Public Security Police (PSP), and the Municipal Police.
The alert for the accident was issued at 7:30 a.m., and the victim was discovered by divers at 11:40 a.m.
