“This decision by the workers stemmed from the strike held on July 11, aimed at denouncing the company’s lack of willingness to negotiate the workers’ demands and the absence of responses to their rightful claims,” stated the Union of Workers in Agriculture and the Food, Beverage, and Tobacco Industries of Portugal (Sintab) in a communiqué.
This marks the 23rd consecutive strike by the workers of Nobre Alimentação.
The union has requested mediation from the Ministry of Labor, and a meeting is scheduled for early September.
The workers are demanding a salary increase of 150 euros, an increase in the meal allowance from 5.50 euros to eight euros, and an additional five euros in longevity pay.
