Luís Montenegro issued a statement following the Cabinet meeting, which for the first time included the presidents of the Autonomous Regions of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, and Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque. None of the three officials responded to questions from the media.
The Prime Minister also announced that in early 2026, the Azores will host the first summit between the three governments—all led by the PSD. This meeting was initially scheduled for the end of 2024 but was postponed due to political crises in Madeira and later on the mainland.
