Traffic on Calçada de Carriche, in Lisbon, will be restricted between Monday and Tuesday, in the Odivelas — Lisbon direction, due to work on the road, the entity responsible for the work warned today.
The work is related to the rehabilitation contract for the Telheiras — Calçada de Carriche pipeline, “which includes the total replacement of one of the main water supply pipelines to the city of Lisbon,” said EPAL – Empresa Portuguesa das Águas Livres, responsible for water supply in the capital.
In a statement, EPAL said that next Monday, April 15, work will begin on painting the horizontal signs on the carriageway at Calçada de Carriche and Avenida Padre Cruz, which will cause traffic restrictions in the Odivelas-Lisbon direction between Senhor Roubado and Avenida Rainha Dona Amélia.
This traffic restriction is expected to last until Tuesday, April 16, when the work on the road is expected to be completed, said the same source.
The rehabilitation of the Telheiras — Calçada de Carriche pipeline is the result of a total investment of 4.7 million euros, with the aim, according to EPAL, of improving the reliability of the water supply system.
As part of the traffic restrictions on Calçada de Carriche, EPAL apologizes for the inconvenience and recommends that, “whenever possible, alternative routes should be used to access the city of Lisbon”, giving as examples the CRIL [Circular Regional Interior de Lisboa or Itinerário Complementar IC17] or the Túnel do Grilo in the direction of the Eixo Norte-Sul for motorists coming from the A8 – freeway of the West.
