Wynn Macau gaming operator profits fall more than 20% in the 2nd quarter

The company reported that the adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization, and rent (EBITDAR) of the gaming concessionaire in Macau for the second quarter reached $253.7 million (€217.7 million), marking a 9.5% decrease compared to the previous year.

Properties operated by Wynn Macau recorded revenues of $883.5 million (€758.6 million) from April to June, remaining virtually unchanged (-0.2%) compared to the same period in 2024, announced Wynn Resorts Ltd, which operates two casino resorts in the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR): Wynn Macau, on the peninsula, and Wynn Palace, in Cotai.

By property, Wynn Palace’s operating revenues decreased by 1.5% year-on-year to $539.6 million (€460.8 million), while the adjusted EBITDAR of the property fell 14.8% to $157.2 million (€135 million).

Meanwhile, Wynn Macau reported operating revenues of $343.8 million (€295.2 million), a 1.9% increase over the prior year, with adjusted EBITDAR edging up to $96.5 million (€82.9 million).

The Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace casinos were responsible for the majority of the company’s business volume, generating $741.7 million (€636.9 million) in revenues, up 2.2% from the second quarter of last year.

“In Macau, while VIP retention negatively impacted results, we generated a healthy market share and significant free cash flow, supporting our ongoing investment in Macau properties,” stated Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts Ltd., as quoted in the parent company’s statement.

For the first half of the year, Wynn Macau recorded operating profits of $255.4 million (€219.2 million) between January and June 2025, a decrease of 30.5% compared to the first six months of the previous year.

Recent data from the Macau Government shows that the region’s casinos reported a 6.5% increase in gross revenue for the first seven months of the year, amounting to MOP 140.896 billion (approximately €14.93 billion) compared to MOP 132.348 billion (€14.03 billion) between January and July 2024.

Macau, the world’s gaming capital, is the only place in China where casino gaming is legal. Six concessionaires operate in the territory, whose concession contracts for the next ten years took effect on January 1, 2023.
