
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Germany increased by 0.4% in April compared to March.
Core inflation, which excludes the impact of food and energy products, rose again in April to 2.9% year-on-year, up from 2.5% the month before.
Service prices rose at a rate above average in April, posting a year-on-year increase of 3.9%, compared to 3.4% in March.
The increase in food product prices also surpassed the average, reaching 2.8% year-on-year, in contrast to March’s 2.9% figure.
Meanwhile, energy prices fell by 5.4% in April, following a 2.8% decrease in the previous month.
The harmonized index of consumer prices for Germany, which is calculated in accordance with EU standards, stood at 2.2% year-on-year in April and increased by 0.5% from the previous month.
Final inflation results for March will be published on May 14.
