Yellow warning extended until Thursday due to heat

Fifteen districts in Portugal are under a yellow alert today due to the heat, and starting from Tuesday, the entire mainland territory will be affected, at least until Thursday.

Today, only the districts of Lisbon, Leiria, and Aveiro are not under the alert.

The remaining districts are experiencing a yellow alert because of the persistence of high maximum temperature values, which will remain until 6 a.m. Thursday, except for Faro, where the alert lasts only until 9 p.m. today.

In Madeira, both on the south coast and in mountainous regions, a yellow alert has also been issued for the same reason, lasting until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The yellow alert, the least severe, is issued when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on weather conditions.

Today, the IPMA forecasts generally clear skies, more intense wind along the coastal strip and in highlands, especially in the afternoon, and a slight decrease in the maximum temperature, particularly in the western coast south of Cabo da Roca.

Évora, with 38°C, will be the hottest city today, while Sagres will be the coolest with 24°C.
