“Yes, I do. In this life and all my others”, or in Portuguese, “Sim, quero. Nesta e em todas as minhas vidas.” This was how Georgina Rodríguez, the longtime partner of Cristiano Ronaldo, announced her engagement, prompting a wave of (amusing) advertising campaigns.
Supermarket chains Aldi and Continente seized the opportunity to showcase the “best” of Madeira, Ronaldo’s birthplace, and displayed a flashy ring alongside a traditional bolo do caco and bananas.
“Love is in the air… and in Aldi’s bolo do caco. And this is cheap, for just 0.59 [cents] we always say SIUUU”, referencing Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous celebration phrase.
Meanwhile, Continente opted for “Yessssss to the best of Madeira”, referring to bananas, and explained, “It’s impossible to resist freshness that continues to triumph on and off the field.” “It’s impossible to resist freshness in their 40s,” read their Instagram post.
In the same supermarket context, Auchan said “Yesssss” to its Vegan Berliner doughnut, humorously commenting, “It wasn’t even necessary to ask.”
Licor Beirão called it an “unmissable proposal,” adding, “as the proverb goes: a wedding without Beirão doesn’t last a summer.”
Control decided to ‘spice up’ the engagement proposal, displaying one of its vibrating rings with the guarantee that “even you would say yessss.”

The magazine reports that the ring Cristiano Ronaldo chose for the proposal features an oval diamond, approximately two centimeters in length, between 40 to 45 carats, and is flanked by two triangular diamonds.
The piece, according to jeweler Iñaki Torres, might cost around five million euros, although it could reach 10 to 12 million depending on the diamond’s purity (this value includes the side diamonds).
The love story of the model, 31, and the Portuguese international, 40, began in 2016 when they met at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Georgina Rodríguez worked.
At that time, Ronaldo was already a father to Cristiano Jr. (Cristianinho), born in 2010 via a surrogate. Their relationship was publicly confirmed in January 2017 at a FIFA gala.
