After two summer seasons with movies, the Sheraton hotel has decided to dedicate itself to series. Popcorn, of course, will not be missing.
As soon as summer arrives, outdoor movie initiatives multiply, especially in Lisbon. There is, however, a very different version to those we are used to. Just add the word pool to understand why.
For the past two years, the Sheraton hotel has joined the list of venues organizing these screenings, with Poolside Cinema. However, the initiative had a particularity: the feature films were projected by the pool. This year, the plot twist is even bigger. The event is now called Poolside Cinema: TV Series Edition.
The schedule is now fully dedicated to series. “Friends”, “Prison Break”, “This Is Us”, “Breaking Bad”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “Little Liars”, “X-Files” and “Sons of Anarchy” are the selected titles.
The sessions take place on Thursdays from 9pm. Each week, audiences will be able to watch the first and last episode of a series, although there are often more episodes in between, depending on the length of each.
For example, the night of “Friends” (July 27) includes six episodes: the first three of the inaugural season, and the last three of the final season. This is followed by three episodes of “Prison Break” (Aug. 3); another three of “This is Us” (Aug. 10); three more of “Breaking Bad” (Aug. 17); five of “The Big Bang Theory” (Aug. 24); two of “Little Liars” (Aug. 31); three of “X-Files” (Sept. 7): and finally, another trio of episodes of “Sons of Anarchy” (Sept. 14). The episodes will be broadcast in English with Portuguese subtitles.
To reserve a seat, there are three options available: the Poolside Cinema ticket (€17), which gives access to the chairs by the pool and popcorn; the Poolside Cinema Cabana, to watch everything in one of the four double pergolas of the pool, also with popcorn; and the VIP Poolside Cinema (€29), which includes seats on a floating double sofa inside the pool (no need to change clothes), access to a lounge with snacks and drinks available before the session and, of course, popcorn.
