A 24-year-old illegal immigrant was detained by the Public Security Police (PSP) on Thursday at approximately 10:20 AM on Rua Alferes Malheiro in Porto.
The Algerian national was detained by the police’s Foreigners Inspection Brigade after claiming, according to the PSP statement, that he was without his passport “because he had lost it during the boat trip to Spain.”
The immigrant entered Portugal illegally through Spain via the land border.
The detainee has already been presented to the judicial authority, which decided that he will be taken to the temporary installation center.
