A 25-year-old man died on Saturday, September 6, crushed by a car in the village of Perofilho, Santarém.
The Lezíria do Tejo Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection reported that the young man “apparently was attempting a repair” when the jack he was using to elevate the vehicle broke, causing it to fall on him.
It was further explained that acquaintances of the young man had tried calling him “throughout the day” and, after failing to reach him, ultimately found him deceased.
Emergency services were dispatched, including the Volunteer Firefighters of Santarém, the Santarém Fire Brigade, and the Almeirim Volunteer Firefighters, involving a total of seven personnel. Additionally, the Emergency Medical and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from Santarém Hospital, the PSP, and the psychological support team from INEM were present at the scene.
The alert was raised around 10:02 p.m. By the time authorities arrived, the young man had already been declared deceased.
