An 18-year-old attempted to kill his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend in the early hours of Sunday in Vila Nova de Gaia, according to the Judicial Police (PJ).
The suspect has been identified and arrested, authorities confirmed.
The crime followed a “disagreement between the suspect and the girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.”
The PJ reports that the victim, also an 18-year-old, went to the vicinity of the ex-girlfriend’s house after exchanging messages with her following their breakup.
During that time, the victim had an altercation with the attacker, who was armed with a kitchen knife, “seriously injuring the victim, causing life-threatening wounds that led to hospitalization.”
The detained individual will now face a preliminary judicial interrogation to determine appropriate preventive measures.
