A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for sexually abusing a six-year-old child in Sintra. Both lived in the same household, with the suspect being the son of the mother’s partner, as confirmed by the Polícia Judiciária.
The incidents occurred in July of last year and were initially reported within the family but were never brought to the attention of authorities. It is noted that the suspect and the victim were cohabiting.
The victim’s mother developed depression following the events. She eventually spoke about it during a consultation with her psychologist, who then reported the facts to the Comissão de Proteção de Crianças e Jovens (CPCJ).
In March 2025, the crime was reported to the PJ through the CPCJ, where the family was already under observation. At this time, however, the suspect was in an unknown location.
Investigative actions carried out by the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo Directorate collected significant evidence implicating the suspect in the crime, leading to his arrest on Wednesday, November 5.
The suspect was located and apprehended by the PJ in compliance with an arrest warrant issued by the competent judicial authority.
He will appear for a preliminary judicial interrogation for the imposition of preventive measures.
