Zé Felipe, Jüra, and Skunk Anansie on the poster of the Crato Festival

Organized by the Crato Chamber in the district of Portalegre, the festival will take place in the town center alongside the 39th Crato Handicraft and Gastronomy Fair.

Throughout the four-day event, 12 shows will be staged, with three performances each night. The festival will culminate on August 30 with performances by Zé Filipe, Fernando Daniel, and Nena.

In today’s announcement, the organizers described Zé Filipe as “one of the most prominent Brazilian artists of today,” having launched his career in 2014. He learned to play guitar years earlier from his father, Leonardo, of the sertanejo duo Leandro & Leonardo.

Portuguese artists Fernando Daniel, a leading name in national music, and Nena, a singer-songwriter from Lisbon who began writing her own lyrics at age 12, will also feature in the final night’s lineup.

Jüra, another artist announced today, is seen as “one of the most notable names in the new urban music coming out of Portugal” and will perform in the Alentejo town on August 28. She will share the stage with Matuê, Lon3r Johny, and ProfJam that evening.

Jüra (Joana Silva) is “a multifaceted artist” who, in addition to her music career and songwriting, is also a dancer, acrobat, actress, and has done dubbing work, festival organizers highlighted.

Matuê, described as “one of the biggest contemporary Brazilian artists,” will showcase his work and musical influences that night in Crato, followed by ‘rappers’ Lon3r Johny and ProfJam, who will present their “London” project.

The 2025 edition of the Festival do Crato kicks off on August 27 with a ‘hip-hop’ performance by Wet Bed Gang, a group from Vialonga, Vila Franca de Xira.

According to the lineup, the opening night will also feature rapper Plutónio and Mizzy Miles, a major name in national hip-hop and urban music.

On August 29, performances by Skunk Anansie, GNR, and Luís Trigacheiro along with guests are scheduled.

The British band Skunk Anansie, fronted by the charismatic Skin, celebrates 30 years since their debut album “Paranoid and Sunburnt” and returns to Crato 12 years later for an “electrifying performance,” promised the organizers.

Portuguese band GNR, led by Rui Reininho, will also return 12 years after their last appearance at the festival. Following them, Alentejano artist Luís Trigacheiro will take the stage with special guests Diogo Piçarra and Buba Espinho.

In addition to four days of music, festival-goers can explore the exhibits at the 39th Crato Handicraft and Gastronomy Fair.

Organizers also noted that the Festival do Crato began in 1984 as the Crato Handicraft and Gastronomy Fair, aiming to promote local culture, customs, and crafts.

The festival has featured “internationally recognized names,” including the Beach Boys (without the Wilson brothers), The Animals, James, Scorpions, and Roger Hodgson (Supertramp).
