Azores eastern group under yellow alert due to rain

The eastern group of the Azores has been under yellow alert since 9:00 pm today and until 3:00 pm on Tuesday due to forecasts of rain, which may be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, the IPMA said.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the alert for the eastern group (islands of Sao Miguel and Santa Maria) is as follows: “rainfall at times heavy, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms.

The yellow alert, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA when there is a risk for certain activities based on the weather situation.
