Nuno Borges, the last Portuguese player in the main draw of the Estoril Open, faces Italian Lorenzo Musetti today in the second round, one of the first three seeded players in the Portuguese tournament who only make their debut on the fourth day.
After seeing off Frenchman Lucas Pouille in his opening match, Borges, ranked 62nd in the world, faces Musetti, 24th, who was exempt from the first round, in the second match of the day on the Estoril Tennis Club’s centre court.
Also making his debut will be the 2023 champion, Norwegian Casper Ruud, first seed and eighth in the world, who will meet Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (87th) in the third match on the main court.
The other top 10 player at the tournament, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz (10th), will start his match on the Estoril Tennis Club’s centre court at 12 noon against British qualifier Jan Choinski (188th).
After seeing off Portugal’s Henrique Rocha, France’s Gaël Monfils, ranked 45th in the world, plays Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics, 85th, in the final match of the program.
One of the most eagerly awaited matches of the day, between Frenchman Richard Gasquet, 122nd in the world and winner of the Estoril Open in 2015, and Austrian Dominic Thiem, former world number three and currently 91st, will open the program on the Cascais court.
After being eliminated in singles, Henrique Rocha and Jaime Faria will play the first round of doubles against Romanian Victor Cornea and Czech Petr Nouza.
