Salvador Caetano is the distributor and responsible for the marketing and after-sales services of the brand in the national territory, where it has already opened four facilities: Porto, Gaia, Lisbon and Cascais.
The electric vehicle manufacturer BYD announced this Friday that it sold this week the first vehicle of the brand in Portugal. It is the BYD HAN model and was delivered on Tuesday at the dealership in Vila Nova da Gaia.
The BYD HAN is a premium 100% electric sedan that “stands out for its aerodynamics, sleek and sporty iF Design Award-winning design, and luxurious technology and standard equipment,” the company said in a press release.
The car is available in a single version, and has a drag coefficient of 0.233 Cd, “which contributes to its range of up to 662 km on an urban cycle. The two electric motors have a combined output of 380 kW or 517 hp, which enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
Pedro Cordeiro, BYD Portugal’s COO (chief operating officer), points out that the brand is “very pleased” to deliver its first vehicle to the Portuguese market, in what is “another important step in BYD’s European sales strategy.
“Our goal for this market is to exceed customer expectations and demonstrate that BYD is prepared to continue its affirmation as the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles offering high technology and a unique driving experience to its customers. In a period in which there is an increasingly high demand for electric vehicles, BYD stands out by being able to guarantee immediate delivery in the Portuguese market,” says Pedro Cordeiro, quoted in a press release.
For his part, Vítor Martins, presented as the brand’s first customer in Portugal, explained that he already knew the brand, as a result of several researches he had done on the internet regarding electric cars, and that he “loved” the cars.
“BYD has cars with a lot of quality, excellent design and very well equipped. In choosing the HAN, the design factor was crucial. It’s a car with an unmatched interior, with a lot of quality, premium and, I never tire of saying it, incredibly well designed. I liked the car and the immediate delivery factor was a preponderant factor”, says Vítor Martins.
In Portugal, BYD also offers two other models, namely the C-SUV BYD ATTO 3 and the seven-seat SUV BYD TANG.
BYD has recently arrived in Portugal through the Salvador Caetano Group, which acts as the official representative, distributor and responsible for the commercialization and after-sales services of the brand in national territory.
The electric vehicle brand has, so far, four facilities in Portugal, two in the district of Lisbon (Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo and Cascais) and two in the district of Porto (Campo Alegre and Madalena, Vila Nova de Gaia).
