The Judiciary Police arrested a man and seized enough cocaine for 35,000 individual doses on Friday at Lisbon airport, in an operation against drug trafficking by air, the police said today.

According to the PJ, the cocaine seized by the PJ’s National Unit for Combating Drug Trafficking (UNCTE) was “meticulously concealed” inside the luggage of a foreign national who was traveling “from a South American country to Lisbon”.

The defendant, 34, was subjected to first judicial interrogation and remanded in custody.

The PJ said that the operation was supported by the PSP, namely the Airport Security Division of Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon.

The investigation is continuing at a time when cocaine seizures are frequent at Lisbon airport.
