Euro2024: Portugal continue preparations for duel with Bosnia with new training session

Portugal continue their preparations today for Saturday’s duel with Bosnia-Herzegovina in the third round of Euro 2024 qualifiers, with another training session at the Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras.

The team led by Spanish coach Roberto Martínez has scheduled another session for 6:00 pm, the first 15 minutes of which will be open to the media. Prior to this, at 5:15pm, also at the Cidade do Futebol, an as yet unnamed player will take part in a press conference.

On Wednesday, Martínez once again counted his team’s 26 players, at least at the start of the session, which was open to journalists.

Portugal will host Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday at Estádio da Luz in Lisbon at 7.45pm and then travel to Iceland three days later at Estádio Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavík at 7.45pm.

The match with Bosnia will be refereed by Italy’s Davide Massa.

At the start of the qualifiers, in two matches that marked Martinez’s absolute debut at the helm of the national team, Portugal beat Liechtenstein, 4-0, at Estádio José Alvalade, Lisbon, and travelled to Luxembourg, 6-0.

The “quinas” team top Group J with six points, followed by Slovakia with four, Bosnia and Iceland, both with three. Luxembourg, with just one point, and Liechtenstein, with no points, occupy penultimate and last place respectively.

Only the top two finishers qualify for the Euro 2024 finals, to be held in Germany.
