According to the Territorial Command of the GNR (National Republican Guard) in the Azores, the items were seized on Thursday by the Horta Territorial Post, in collaboration with the Crime and Misdemeanor Investigation Unit.
“During an inspection operation aimed at preventing criminal offenses related to counterfeiting, imitation, and illegal use of trademarks, the Guard’s officers detected various counterfeit clothing items and toys displayed for sale to the public through street vending,” the GNR stated in a press release issued today.
As a result of the operation, the officers seized 424 counterfeit items that “displayed logos of renowned brands.”
The GNR also identified two men and filed two official reports, with the facts being forwarded to the Judicial Court of the Azores.
In the statement, the GNR reminds that the main objective of these actions is “to ensure compliance with industrial property rights, primarily aimed at combating counterfeiting (illegal use of trademarks, sale of counterfeit items).”
