The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) today extended until Tuesday the yellow warning already issued for the islands of the western group of the Azores, due to forecasts of sea turbulence.

On the islands of Flores and Corvo, where the yellow warning was in force between 05:00 local time (06:00 in Lisbon) yesterday and 17:00 local time (18:00 in Lisbon) on Monday due to sea waves (westerly waves, turning northwest), the warning has been extended until Tuesday.

According to the IPMA, the yellow warning is valid from 19:19 local time (20:19 in Lisbon) today until 07:00 local time (06:00 in Lisbon) on Tuesday.

The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
