A pleasure boat with three people on board received support from the Peniche Life Saving Station, following an alert issued by the boat’s captain after it ran out of propulsion.
In astatementreleased today, the National Maritime Authority (AMN) explains that the crew of the Peniche Life Saving Station helped “three people from a pleasure boat that was without propulsion off the port of Peniche” on Friday.
The operation took place following an alert given by the boat’s captain at 6pm, informing him that the boat was without propulsion about 500 meters south of the entrance to the port of Peniche.
Following the alert, the crew of the Peniche Lifeboat Station “immediately went to the scene, where they found that “the three people were physically well, with no need for medical assistance”.
The boat was then towed to the Peniche marina for safety reasons.
According to the press release, the owner has been notified and will only be able to set sail after being inspected to ensure seaworthiness.
