The Lisbon metro will extend transport service on the green and blue lines until 03:00 on Santo António night, the company announced today.
The extended service, which includes the running of six-car trains, will take place at all stations on the green and blue lines on Monday night.
Exceptionally, on the blue line, only Avenida station will close at around 00:30, “for security reasons”, following the usual Popular Marches parade on Avenida da Liberdade.
The other metro lines – yellow and red – will operate at their usual times.
Under normal circumstances, the metro runs every day between 06:30 and 01:00.
Due to network expansion work, train traffic on the green line will continue to be interrupted between Telheiras and Campo Grande stations, and on the yellow line between Campo Grande and Cidade Universitária stations.
In a press release, the carrier advises those without a social card to buy their tickets in advance from ticket machines in stations to “avoid unnecessary delays and queues”, especially when returning from the festivities.
The company adds that it will “count on the reinforcement of its workers in the stations”, in “articulation with the PSP intervention forces”, to ensure “a transport service in adequate safety conditions”.
