River connections between Lisbon and Barreiro, in the district of Setúbal, will be disrupted early Tuesday afternoon due to a workers’ plenary session, Fectrans said today.

In a statement, the Federation of Transport and Communications Trade Unions (Fectrans) said that Soflusa workers will meet in plenary session between 1:55pm and 3:55pm on Tuesday with a work stoppage.

According to the union, “the aim of the plenary session is to analyze the results of the conclusions of the working group, which included representatives of the administration and unions, with the aim of unifying working relations at Transtejo/Soflusa.”

Also according to the union structure, the plenary session was called by the unions of Fectrans, Fluvial, the National Union of Railway Workers (SNTSF) and the Union of Merchant Marine Workers (SIMAMEVIP).

On its official website, Transtejo/Soflusa states that the regular service between Lisbon and Barreiro will be interrupted “due to a plenary meeting called by trade union organizations representing Soflusa workers”.

According to the company, the Barreiro river connection will be interrupted between 12:55 and 16:40″.

Of the boats scheduled between Barreiro and Lisbon, the service will be interrupted between 12:55 and 16:15, while in the opposite direction between 13:25 and 16:40.

Soflusa is responsible for the crossing between Barreiro and Terreiro do Paço, in Lisbon, while Transtejo connects Seixal, Montijo, Cacilhas and Trafaria/Porto Brandão, in the Setúbal district, to Lisbon.
