In a statement, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command, through the Loures Police Division (which coordinates PSP intervention in the municipality of Odivelas, Lisbon district), reported that the construction project is scheduled to begin on September 2 (almost three weeks after the closure of the facilities), “with a 180-day deadline for its completion.”

“Mobile motorized and foot patrols will be maintained through the various resources available in the Loures Police Division, reinforced with a Mobile Service Unit, enhancing police visibility and allowing for continued response to requests and missions in that area,” the security force emphasized.

Administrative services will be transferred to the 75th precinct in Caneças (also in the municipality of Odivelas) during this period.

The PSP reminded that nearby – “about five minutes away” – the 36th and 65th precincts remain open in Bairro Padre Cruz (in the municipality of Lisbon) and Brandoa (Amadora), respectively.

The Odivelas City Council approved this month the launch of the tender for the construction of the PSP division in the municipality, a project budgeted at 9.7 million euros and expected to be completed in early 2027.

In April 2023, the previous Government approved in the Council of Ministers the establishment of a cooperation contract with the local authority for the construction of the division facilities, and the launch of the tender is now authorized.

The municipality will invest about four million euros in the construction of the equipment, with the Government ensuring the remaining funds.

The Odivelas City Council also provided the land and bore the costs of the execution project, estimated at 250,000 euros.

The future facility, which will be located in the Ribeirada area, will also house the staff of the 71st precinct (Odivelas) and the Pontinha precinct, as well as the specialized Traffic, Criminal Investigation, and Police Intervention and Inspection squads (currently based in the Loures division).
