The Portuguese Navy has recorded a significant increase in sea surface temperature in the Algarve region over the past few days. In Faro, the water temperature reached a maximum of 25.1°C (77.2°F).
However, the Navy stated in a press release that the record high temperature registered in the last 10 years has not been surpassed. The maximum values recorded in the past decade were 26.5°C (79.7°F) on July 28, 2016, and 26.3°C (79.3°F) on September 6, 2021.
