The Foreigners and Borders Service has started today, through the ‘Brexit’ portal, the registration of family members of British citizens residing in Portugal who are beneficiaries of the Exit Agreement signed between the European Union and the United Kingdom

After notifying the more than 37,000 British citizens residing in Portugal, the SEF begins today the next phase of the ‘Brexit’ process with the identification of the household by the beneficiary of the Exit Agreement concluded between the European Union and the United Kingdom, on the ‘Brexit’ portal,” says the security service, in a statement.

The SEF specifies that only holders of residence cards of family members of EU citizens can be identified at this stage.
The SEF explains that the beneficiary should authenticate on the ‘Brexit’ portal using the credentials already used for registration and scheduling, fill in the residence card number for each element of the household to be regularized, define the degree of kinship and confirm the registration.
Subsequently, the family members will be notified to make an appointment to collect biometric data and thus replace their residence card with the new residence permit, also indicates that security service.
Recent data from SEF shows that people from the United Kingdom are the second largest resident community in Portugal, around 37,000, after Brazil, with more than 233,000.
