The municipality of Tavira, in the Faro district, today presents a very high danger of rural fire, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
The municipality of São Brás de Alportel, in the Faro district, presents a high risk, according to information published on the IPMA website.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed 33 districts in the regions of Faro, Beja, Setúbal, Evora and Leiria in moderate danger of rural fires.
The fire risk determined by the IPMA has five levels, ranging from low to maximum.
Calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and the amount of precipitation over the last 24 hours.
The IPMA forecast for today calls for periods of very cloudy skies, with a large proportion of cloudless skies in the south.
Showers are expected in the northern and central regions, especially in the afternoon inland, where they may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
The wind will be light, temporarily moderate (20 to 30 km/h) from the western quadrant in the afternoon, especially in the central and southern regions.
Morning fog or mist is also forecast, along with a slight drop in minimum temperatures, especially along the coasts of the Northern and Central regions, and a slight rise in maximum temperatures in the interior of the Southern region.
Maximum temperatures will range from 18 degrees Celsius in Guarda to 27 degrees in Evora and Aveiro.
