There are also changes in the early morning period. According to the ordinance, flights can also be brought forward to the period between 05:30 and 06:00, provided they have a slot allocated for the period between 06:00 and 06:30.
Night flights at Lisbon airport will be possible, without a limit, for a longer period, from Friday to August 8, according to an ordinance approved by the Government and already published in Diário da República.
The ordinance “creates an exceptional regime regarding the operation of aircraft” at Humberto Delgado Airport between July 28 and August 8, the document says.
It adds: “The exceptional regime provided for in the previous paragraph covers only scheduled air movements with an assigned time slot, which, for unanticipated reasons and not controllable by the air carrier, may be delayed so that the flight enters the night period between 00:00 and 02:00”.
There are also changes in the early morning period. According to the ordinance, flights can also be brought forward to the period between 05:30 and 06:00, provided they have a slot allocated for the period between 06:00 and 06:30.
The ordinance does not set any limit on the number of flights that can take place during these periods.
The measure comes in connection with the World Youth Day (WYD), from August 1 to 6 in Lisbon, with the forecast, says the Government of the capital to receive one million pilgrims, who should use especially air transport.
At Lisbon Airport, night traffic is normally restricted between 00:00 and 06:00.
But according to an ordinance created when Euro 2004 was organized, a total of 91 flights per week can take place during this period.
