According to the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), a yellow warning has been issued for the Central group of islands in the Azores (Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, Graciosa, and Faial). The warning is valid from 9:00 PM local time (10:00 PM in Lisbon) today until 6:00 AM local time on Sunday.
For the Eastern group of the Azores (São Miguel and Santa Maria islands), the yellow warning will be in effect from 3:00 AM local time (4:00 AM in Lisbon) until 12:00 PM local time on Sunday.
The yellow warning, which is the least severe on a three-level scale, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on weather conditions.
