A 17-day-old baby was urgently transported by the Air Force from Madeira to the mainland during the early hours of Thursday. According to the Air Force, the transport was necessary “so that the baby could receive essential health care for survival.”
The baby, who “needed urgent hospital care unavailable” in the Madeira archipelago, was transported by a Falcon 50 aircraft from Squadron 504 – ‘Lynxes’, which was activated around 4:00 AM.
“On board the Air Force plane was a health team from the Aeromedical Evacuation Unit, consisting of a doctor and a military nurse ready to ensure that the small passenger received all necessary medical assistance during the journey,” the statement reads.
In the note, the Air Force also highlighted that with this action, the ‘Lynxes’ “were heroes” who contributed to “saving another life.”
The Air Force’s social media post included an image and stated that a newborn was transported in a Falcon 50 aircraft. The urgent transport was essential for the baby to receive health care crucial for survival.
