The Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz were called to the scene around 09:45 this Sunday, as well as a team with 12 mountain rescue elements from the Calheta Volunteer Firefighters, supported by three vehicles. The helicopter of the Regional Civil Protection Service was also called to the scene.

One of the occupants of the vehicle that crashed and fell from a ravine of more than 100 meters, this morning, in the area of Achadas Cruz, has already been rescued alive. It has not yet been possible to ascertain the severity of the injuries.

As far as it was possible to ascertain, the victim is being transported by helicopter to the Regional Civil Protection Service, where he will later be referred to a hospital unit.

The president of the Parish Council of Achadas da Cruz, António Correia, who is on site, confirmed that three young people were in the vehicle.
