Starting Sunday, expect rain across the country, but also milder temperatures.

The cold spell that has been plaguing Portugal for the past few days is coming to an end, but so is the sun. From Sunday, you can expect rain all over the country, but also milder temperatures.

Maximum temperatures will be around 18ºC, but Santarém could reach 21ºC by the end of the week.

“A mass of warmer air will move in. The anticyclone that is currently in the British Isles will move and allow the passage of a westerly flow coming from the Atlantic with warmer air and also with more water vapor content and therefore rain,” a specialist from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) told CNN.

The rain will start from south to north and will be more intense in the afternoon of the 5th, Sunday.

In the afternoon, there is still a possibility of snowfall in the Serra da Estrela and Gerês.
