A fire burned an area of scrubland, including some forest and agricultural areas, and approached homes in the village of Soutelinho do Mezio.
The fire started at 5:46 PM on Tuesday, was considered resolved during the night, but reactivated late in the morning today.
Commander Hugo Silva reported that today, “around lunchtime, there was a strong gust of wind that caused several simultaneous reactivations.”
During the afternoon, six aerial resources and more than 150 personnel were mobilized to combat this fire.
Hugo Silva stated that the fire entered the resolution phase around 7:00 PM.
According to data from the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) website, at 7:30 PM, 143 personnel and 46 vehicles remained on the ground.
The resources will remain on site for mop-up operations and surveillance.
