The fire that broke out this Sunday in Ourém, in the district of Santarém, is in the aftermath, a source from the Sub-regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection of the Middle Tagus told Lusa.
According to the commander on duty in the room, Jorge Gama, the fire entered the aftermath phase at around 16:00, although there are still “some reactivations”.
“The situation is under control,” said the commander, noting that his concern is now with the fire in the neighboring municipality of Leiria, which is very close to Lavradio, in the municipality of Ourém.
According to the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, at 19:00, there were still 200 operatives, 62 firefighters and an airplane on site.
The fire broke out on Sunday in a bush and forest area, at 17:20 in the parish of Matas and Cercal, in the locality of Casal Menino, in Ourém.
