In the early afternoon of this Saturday, July 8, Madeira once again registered another earthquake in a short period of time. The last one on record was last Wednesday, July 5th.
In this case, this quake on Saturday, although of weak intensity – more precisely 2.8 on the Richter Scale – occurred at a depth of 32 km.
According to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), which registers the seismic activity, this quake occurred around 13h56, as they note in their online platform.
Remember that on July 5, last Wednesday, at 06h23, an earthquake of magnitude 3.1 on the Richter Scale was registered in the mainland seismic stations, whose epicenter was located about 25 km southwest of Deserta Grande.
