During the operation, “it was found that the owners rented each warehouse for 700 euros a month to tenants who put bunk beds there and then sublet each mattress.
The Aliens and Borders Service (SEF) inspected on Thursday in Monte Sabino, Faro, six warehouses where more than 100 foreign citizens live, after having detected “an abnormal record” of people with the same address, it was announced this Friday.
In the operation, “it was found that the owners rented each warehouse for 700 euros per month to the tenants, who put bunk beds there and then sublet each mattress for 100 euros per month,” the SEF specified in a statement.
The source said that the people living there “are dependent on their compatriots, who are managing partners of companies that provide services for the provision of labor for farms where the professional exercise is not carried out continuously”.
A total of 132 foreign citizens were identified, all males, four of whom were notified to leave the national territory, reads the note.
The SEF indicated in the statement that it will communicate this situation to the competent authorities to verify the housing conditions in which these citizens find themselves.
The vast majority of these people are in the process of regularization through the mechanism provided for in paragraph 2 of Article 88 of the Aliens Act, which establishes the conditions for obtaining a residence permit for the exercise of professional activities without a residence visa, concludes the SEF.
