Initially, the municipality reported four people displaced, stating that these two families had already found housing solutions, one “by their own means and the other was accommodated by the landlord in another residence.”
The third family, consisting of three members, “also found a solution with relatives,” the source added.
The alert was given at 4:24 PM for a fire at the República dos Cachorros Restaurant in Praça dos Poveiros, which was fought by the Fire Department and was reported to be in the mop-up phase around 7:00 PM.
The situation required the closure of several streets in the city center, specifically Rua do Campinho, Rua D. João IV with Rua de Santo Ildefonso, and Rua da Alegria with Rua Formosa, according to the municipality’s Facebook page, which also states that the situation is being monitored by the Municipal Police and the PSP.
