Seven mainland sea bars are closed today and three are restricted due to wind and rough seas, according to the Navy and the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
According to information available online, the bars of Caminha, Douro, Esposende, Vila Praia de Âncora, Póvoa do Varzim, Vila do Conde and Portinho da Ericeira are closed to all navigation.
The Aveiro bar is restricted to vessels of less than 15 meters in length, while the Figueira da Foz and Viana do Castelo bars are restricted to vessels of less than 35 and 12 meters in length, respectively.
The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) is forecasting generally very cloudy skies today with showers, which in the north and center may be accompanied by thunderstorms, and a drop in the maximum temperature.
On the west coast, the waves will be from the west-southwest with 2.5 to 3.5 meters, while on the south coast they will be from the south quadrant with one to two meters.
