Tickets go on sale starting at 10:00 AM next Saturday.
The Canadian musician The Weeknd starts in June, in Portugal, the European leg of the tour “After Hours Til Dawn”, with a concert at Passeio Marítimo de Algés, in Oeiras, announced today the promoter Everything is New.
The concert of the musician, who came to have two shows scheduled in Portugal in October last year, is scheduled for 06 June, and tickets start selling from 10:00 Saturday, says the promoter in a statement released today.
Ticket prices range from 81 to 261 euros. The current tour of the musician serves to present the album “After Hours”, released in 2020, which includes themes such as “Blinding Lights” and “In your eyes”.
It will be his third time in Portugal
This will be The Weeknd’s third performance in Portugal. In 2012 he performed at the Primavera Sound festival, in Porto, and in 2017 at the Alive festival, in Oeiras.
The musician should have returned to Portugal last year, but in October 2021, decided to cancel the world tour “After Hours”. The Weeknd wanted to reformulate the show and readjust the tour, which ended up starting only in the summer of 2022.
The tour included two dates in Lisbon – October 25 and 26, 2022, at the Altice Arena – which had been practically sold out for several months.
In the new tour, “After Hours Til Dawn”, says the promoter, “ticket holders will receive an NFT as a souvenir and also access to an exclusive NFT collection for the ‘tour'”, this initiative was created “in collaboration with HXOUSE, a think tank and community incubator for creative entrepreneurs, where five percent of sales of the ‘tour’ NFT collection will be donated to the XO Humanitarian Fund”.
The partnership with the World Food Program
As a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations (UN) World Food Programme (WFP), The Weeknd “partners again with the UN WFP for the purpose of contributing funds from this second leg of the tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund, a fund that provides support in the organization’s response to the global hunger crisis.”
On the “After Hours Til Dawn” tour in Europe, one euro from each ticket goes to the XO Humanitarian Fund. In the UK it will be one pound per ticket.
US tour brought $2 million to charity
In the first part of the tour, in the United States of America, a donation of two million dollars was made, “an amount that will provide emergency food and nutrition assistance to the most food insecure regions of Ethiopia.”
This was achieved with a dollar for every ticket sold, the sale of exclusive tour t-shirts, and the direct donation of $500,000 by the artist.
