Five Vimioso firefighters were injured today following an accident involving the firefighting vehicle they were following, and were transported to Bragança Hospital, a Civil Protection source told Lusa.
According to the Sub-Regional Commander of Emergency and Civil Protection Terras de Trás-os-Montes, João Noel Afonso, the operatives are being observed at the Hospital of Bragança, where they performed complementary diagnostic tests to assess the severity of the injuries.
“This tea m of firefighters was traveling to a fire between the localities of Vale de Pena and Serapicos, in that municipality of the district of Bragança, when it entered into screening”, indicated the commander.
Fire in Carrazeda de Ansiães has already been subdued
The fire that had been burning since Monday in Pinhal do Norte, Carrazeda de Ansiães, in the district of Bragança, was reported to be dominated at about 5:00 pm, a source from the operations command told Lusa.
According to data available on the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, at 19:30 67 operatives were still on site fighting the flames, supported by 22 vehicles.
The fire, which broke out in an area of scrubland at 15:00 on Monday, had “several hot spots, many scattered and difficult to access” early this morning.
Also during the day today, the couple who had been removed as a precaution on Monday by GNR from the town of Felgueira, also in the municipality of Carrazeda de Ansiães, returned home, according to Lusa source of the security force.
The couple, a man over 90 and a woman over 80 and who are the only inhabitants of the village, spent the night with relatives in Areias, in the same municipality, the source added.
A GNR team remains in the locality of Felgueira, in prevention.
The circulation on the Municipal Road 630, between Pereiros and Codeçais, also in the municipality of Carrazeda de Ansiães, was restored in the early afternoon, after having been cut during the morning.
